Talk to anyone with a job these days, and you’ll hear plenty of stories about people quitting…
The up-and-coming software engineer who didn’t feel valued in her position, and left to work with a startup for half the pay.
The nurse practitioner reached a breaking point after sleeping 4 hours a night for an entire year while trying to care for her 3 children.
The sales rep decided to ditch the hustle and grind, in order to follow her life’s passion, and open up a bakery.
As Time Magazine put it, “the pandemic revealed just how much we hate our jobs.” And according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly four million Americans quit their jobs in July 2021 alone.
One recent study found that 95% of workers would consider a job change.
And Harvard Business Review noted that employees between the ages of 30 and 45 have had the greatest jump in resignation rates, with an average increase of more than 20% between 2020 and 2021.
It seems as though the entire Nation is “divinely discontent”….and many of us are desperate for change.
What is “Divine Discontent?”
I hear it all the time:
👉 “I’m good at my job, but it longer brings me joy.”
👉 “Something is missing.”
👉 “I want to make a bigger impact.”
👉 “I’m ready to make a change, but I don’t know where to begin.”This is “divine discontent” – and even though it may only feel like a whisper or a gentle tug at your heart….it’s a message I encourage you to definitely pay attention to.
These are your dreams, and your PURPOSE, calling you – and I’d hate for you to go your entire life, ignoring who you truly are.
Divine discontent often comes in the form of a job change. But it can also impact your hobbies, your physical fitness, your emotional well-being, and your relationships.
How do I start taking inspired action?
Maybe you feel as if “change” is on the horizon..but you’re not exactly sure how to take inspired action. Maybe you feel selfish or guilty for wanting to “follow your dreams” and you keep stuffing down the idea that you’re unhappy.

Journal prompts for finding clarity
Below are some journal prompts for connecting with your intuition and taking inspired action. As you answer these questions, be honest with yourself, and try not to judge what comes through.
- Describe what your inner knowing is telling you about your life right now. Are there any next steps you feel you should take? How does it feel when you think about taking these steps?
- If you could take a single small step this week that leads you closer to your dreams, what would that step look like? What is your intuition telling you?
- Fear is a normal experience when you take a leap and follow your inner knowing. Write at least ten affirmations about your strength, power, and courage. Feel the fear, and trust that you can move forward anyway.
